BCCI President Sourav Ganguly Meets with Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar to Discuss ‘Various Issues’

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly met with West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar in Raj Bhawan on Sunday amid speculation the former cricket captain will join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In a statement, Dhankhar said he had an interaction with Ganguly on “varied topics.” The governor further said that he accepted Ganguly’s offer to visit the Gardens of Eden.

“I had an interaction with BCCI President Sourav Ganguly at Raj Bhawan today on various topics. I accepted his offer to visit Eden Gardens, the oldest cricket ground in the country established in 1864,” said the Governor of West Bengal.

With Assembly elections scheduled for the state in April-May next year, speculation abounds that Ganguly could join the saffron party. He arrived at Raj Bhavan around 4:40 pm and did not respond to any questions about the reason for his visit. The meeting between Ganguly and Dhankhar lasted until 5:40 p.m.

Meanwhile, Raj Bhavan sources said that Ganguly’s visit had nothing to do with political developments in the state.
