Regular classes for Class 10 and Class 12 in Tripura to start from December 1 – education
Almost eight months after the closure of schools in the state, the Tripura government announced the resumption of classes for students in the tenth and twelfth grades in schools and universities from December 1, maintaining the Standard Operating Procedure of the Ministry of Human resources development. All educational institutions in the state were closed since mid-March due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We have decided to start classes again for courses 10 and 12 in schools and all government degree, professional and technical institutions as of December 1 monitoring the situation of Covid-19,” said a member of the High Committee Education Department level after a meeting held on Thursday.
At the meeting, it was also decided to restart standard ninth and eleventh classes in schools, 15 days after maintaining a Covid-19 protocol maintenance observation.
Classes in both schools and universities would be restarted amid strict guidelines including disinfection, thermal scanning of all students, teachers, mandatory use of face masks, social distancing, etc.
At universities, honors and internship classes would be restarted first following Covid-19 guidelines.
So far, a total of 32,578 Covid-19 patients have been registered in the state. Of the total, 367 patients died and another two died by suicide, according to the latest report.
The state has nearly 4,400 government and subsidized schools.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, the state Department of Education launched online classes; video conferencing on local TV channels, student helpline call center, and SMS-based classes for students.
According to a recent notification from the Directorate of Secondary Education, the seventh phase of live lectures through local television channels for grades nine through twelve would begin on November 27 and continue until December 26.
