Post-matric hostels in Karnataka to re-open from November 17: Minister – education
The Karnataka government ordered the opening of post-matrix shelters in the state from November 17.
The hostels, run by the Department of Social Welfare, are opening following the reopening of universities for graduate and postgraduate students, Social Welfare Minister B Sriramulu said on Friday.
“As decided at the meeting chaired by Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on October 23, classes for undergraduate and graduate students will start from November 17. In this scenario the post-matrix shelters administered by the Department of Social Welfare throughout the state will operate from November 17, ”he tweeted.
The state government had decided, on October 23, to reopen engineering, diploma and degree colleges (including PG) that were closed to students due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
He had said that students would have the option of attending classes physically or online or they can enter blended learning using both options.
Subsequently, the government also formulated standard operating procedures that universities must follow once they reopen.
To facilitate students in their academic pursuits, the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transportation Corporation (BMTC) said in a press release that it has decided to allow them to use its bus services in the city by producing the student pass issued last year or the current year college fee. receipt or identification from the university.
