Over 400 students of govt schools in Tamil Nadu to get medical seats under 7.5% reservation: Minister – education
More than 400 students from government schools in Tamil Nadu will get places in the medical college under the 7.5% reservation, School Education Minister KA Sengottiyan said on Wednesday.
He told reporters in Gobichettipalayam that 313 students would get medical places and 92 in dental colleges, including 55 from the Erode district alone.
On conducting public exams for students in grades 10, 11 and 12, he said the state government would announce the date for public exams in late December.
Tamil Nadu is the only state in the country that implements a 7.5% reserve, the minister said.
With the consent of Governor Banwarilal Purohit after what opposition parties called a long delay, the state government issued a GO to implement the quota regime beginning in the current 2020-21 academic year.
Earlier, Sengottaiyan inaugurated the drinking water supply plan for Pariyur Nanjagoundenpalayam residents. District Collector C Kathiravan was also present on the occasion.
