Khushbu Sundar removed AICC spokesperson Congress
Actor-turned-politician Khushbu Sundar was removed from the post of congressional national spokesperson by the party on Monday and is scheduled to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in New Delhi. Congress today removed the leader of Tamil Nadu from the post of AICC Spokesperson by means of a statement “with immediate effect”.
Sundar, along with former Indian Revenue Services (IRS) officer Saravana Kumar, who had voluntarily retired, will join the BJP around 12:30 pm at an event at the party’s headquarters in the national capital.
The Sundar crossover takes place at a time when BJP is trying to expand its presence in Tamil Nadu.
Elections to the Legislative Assembly in Tamil Nadu are scheduled for next year. BJP’s All India ally Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) has already announced that Edappadi K Palaniswami will be its top ministerial candidate in the upcoming elections.
However, the leaders of the state BJP have said they want to have more participation, courtesy of it being a nationwide party.
Khushbu Sundar was in the news recently after welcoming the Modi Government’s New Education Policy 2020.
His opinion was contrary to the official position of the party on politics. Later, he apologized to party leader Rahul Gandhi for his different stance.
However, the actor-politician insisted that he “prefers to talk about the fact than to be a robot that nods or a puppet.”
“My position on NEP 2020 is different from that of my party. I apologize to Rahul Gandhi ji for that, but I would rather talk about the fact than being a nodding robot or a puppet. It’s not all about agreeing with our leader, but about being brave (sic) to express our opinion with courage as a citizen, “Khushbu Sundar had said.
