Speaking to the media, Arunachalam said he decided to join the BJP as Haasan refused to support the Center’s farm laws. Arunachalam also said that he felt blessed to join the saffron party on the anniversary of the birth of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Arunachalam is a defender by profession, hailing from a village in the Tuticorin district. Arunachalam is believed to have laid the groundwork for the establishment of MNM in rural Tamil Nadu.
Earlier, the head of the MNM, Haasan, had announced that his party would not forge any alliances with the Kazhagam parties, apparently referring to DMK and AIADMK, in upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly polls.
The actor-turned-politician also launched a 7-point government plan for Tamil Nadu, noting that his campaign theme is “Seeramaipom Thamizhagathai.”
