Apart from enhancing various critical skills, coding also helps cstudents improve computational thinking.

HT Codeathon: Coding a crucial skill in tech-driven age – ht school

The world of children and their education in particular has undergone a radical change in the last six months. Technology is the only means in the hands of the educational fraternity to keep students on board. The HT initiative to train kids in coding at this time is a smart futuristic step. The new normal we speak of will require achievements in the use of computers. Coding lessons can make children feel confident and competent in dealing with new ways of learning. I think it will be very exciting for high school kids to know how to create the background technology to make AI-based projects or models work or the programming language to create a website. Codeathon will simultaneously stimulate their minds and empower them technologically to bring ideas forward. Personally, I feel that in this hour when newspapers and television stations are continually giving us the daily toll of COVID and notifying their audiences of the looming threat that will cause a serious economic slowdown, this initiative taken by the Hindustan Times is a ray of hope in the lives of young children. Large numbers of children face uncertainties because the loss of jobs has affected their parents. Cut off from school and their peers, they are sinking into depression with no one coming to share their anxiety or comfort them. Such a challenging activity as coding can encourage them and guide them in a positive direction.

When we start talking about coding, we think of it as just programming. However, I feel this is far from true. Coding involves many steps, from deciding the elements of our program to the final step of writing the codes and discovering the shortcomings of the output. About 10-15 years ago, very few people knew how games and applications were created. It has been in the last 2-3 years that encryption began to spread. After learning to code, today’s kids are creating apps, games, apps, etc. Not only this, I feel like coding also helps us in our studies. Improve our concentration and focus. Although coding may be initially difficult, HT Codeathon made it easy to understand the codes, no matter how complicated our course was. And this coding also forms the basis of Artificial Intelligence, which is currently used by many nations. Coding is something that doesn’t depend on your age, IQ, etc., it just depends on our passion for computers. So you should try the encoding at least once! I am grateful to HT

I am very grateful to the Hindustan Times and convey my sincere thanks for providing me with this unique opportunity. I hope that the Hindustan Times will feature more such activities in the future. The modules are self-explanatory, informative, and very easy to understand. The questionnaires at the end help me a lot to review the concept and consult it when necessary. I will fail in my duties if I do not thank the teachers, staff and management of GD Goenka Public School, which has always initiated the 3 I’s: Interest, Initiative and Infrastructure and encouraged me to participate in such activities. In fact, my school encourages all students to learn more and more about computer programming skills, particularly in the aspect of coding. Coding, in simple words, means controlling destructive energies. Has skills to control a computer; All websites, applications and social networking sites are created with the help of coding. Today, we are all on social media for various reasons, which means that the computer is controlling us. So, I thought, why not control a computer? This idea intrigued me because I got to know the world of coding.

“HT ANNOUNCES CODE-A-THON FOR SCHOOL CHILDREN” was the news that gave me immense pleasure during this challenging period of the CROWN. For me, ‘Code’ is like a world full of mystery and I definitely want to unlock it. Once the founder of ‘Apple’, Steve Jobs quoted: “Everyone should learn to program a computer because it teaches you to think.” Our new 2020 education policy has also made coding an integral part of the curriculum. One might ponder why everyone suddenly started preaching Coding. This is because encoding will undoubtedly be the language of the future. It sells like hotcakes these days. Now the question arises, how to choose a genuine coach. Therefore, when a trusted brand like HT offered a platform, it was very obvious to get rid of all my doubts and apprehensions; and what he added as an icing on the cake was that our school is collaborating with them. What more can we ask for? Now, I am ready to spread my wings to fly. Thanks to my school and The Hindustan Times for providing us with such a wonderful platform where we can explore and decode the magic of encryption!
