How to be happier: Lilly Singh and ‘Think Like a Monk’ author Jay Shetty decode how to stop emotions from ruling you – sex and relationships
Looking for deep questions and deep answers or soul food this weekend? Well we’ve got it covered, courtesy of Indo-Canadian YouTuber and talk show host, Lilly Singh’s latest interactive video featuring ‘Think like a monk‘author Jay Shetty. Jay is a purpose coach and British bestselling author who was a former monk.
Taking her Instagram account, Lilly gave netizens a much-needed life lesson when she had Jay decode a monk’s brain to say “how to be happier.” The video begins with Jay stating: “Monks have the happiest brains on the planet.”
To Lilly’s question about the main pillars of thinking like a monk, Jay referred to monks who are always trying to get to the root of the problem, think through the lens of gratitude, and spend time investing in themselves. He was then asked by Lilly how do you think as a monk in this moment and situation in 2020 and Jay goes back to his original answer of understanding the ladder of fear.
For Jay, his ladder of fear in 2020 was a bad thing that happened to his parents and by pricking the root cause of his fear, he understood that his real fear came from the fact that he wasn’t showing them enough love. This deep talk, Lilly said, came like a slap to her face.
Next, Jay shed light on involuntary life in the era of social media and home quarantine in these months of lockdown, on how to prevent your emotions from taking over and ruling you. Lilly gave her review of Jay’s bookThink like a monk‘and posed his questions as what he meant by a’ healthy ego ‘.
