GB Pant Engg College students continue hunger strike against non-inclusion in IP University admission process – education
GB Pant Engineering College students here continued their hunger strike on Wednesday demanding the institute’s inclusion in the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University admissions counseling after it was removed from the list.
While five students have been on a hunger strike since Tuesday, several others have joined a sit-in protest that began earlier this week.
“A doctor visited to check the vital signs of the students on hunger strike. The other students are completing their homework at the protest site and studying. A separate hour has been set aside for songs and campaign slogans, ”said one student.
The Delhi cabinet approved in March last year the construction of an integrated GB Pant Engineering College (GBPEC) and Polytechnic campus at Okhla Industrial Estate at an estimated cost of more than Rs 520 million.
However, there has been no official word on the university’s non-inclusion in the admissions counseling process, apart from indications that the institute will merge with the Delhi Skills University, which has yet to be established.
