Decision on re-opening of schools in Karnataka to be taken tomorrow – education
The decision on the reopening of schools in Karnataka will be made at a high-level meeting on Saturday, authorities said on Friday.
The meeting will be attended by the chief minister of the state, BS Yediyurappa, and the minister of Primary and Secondary Education, S Suresh Kumar, the officials said.
Schools have been closed since March 24 due to the coronavirus-induced closure.
The government faced opposition every time it tried to reopen schools, as COVID-19 cases were on the rise.
However, the government has now decided to take a call to restart classes as virus cases have dropped and there was pressure from the school administration that the results this time would not be impressive if classes were not taken, Sources in the Department of Education told PTI.
On Thursday, officials from the education and health departments and members of the COVID-19 technical advisory committee met to deliberate on the pros and cons of resuming classes.
