Confident that teachings of Vivekananda will be followed by JNU students: VC Jagadesh Kumar – education
Ahead of the inauguration of the Swami Vivekananda statue at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Vice Chancellor Jagadesh Kumar on Thursday expressed confidence that students will follow the spiritual leader’s teachings.
“We are very happy that our Prime Minister inaugurated the statue of Swami Vivekananda today and I am very confident that JNU will follow Swami Ji’s teachings and that the University will continue to be an active partner in transforming our country into Atmanirbhar Bharat,” Kumar said. .
Earlier today, before the event where the Prime Minister is scheduled to unveil a statue of Swami Vivekananda on the JNU campus, the Jawaharlal Nehru University Student Union (JNUSU) wrote an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asking why the Center recommended the appointment of JNU Vice Chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar, accusing him of leaving no stone unturned in the “destruction” of the University.
A statement issued by the University previously said that Prime Minister Modi, via video conference, will unveil the life-size statue of Swami Vivekananda installed on the University campus on November 12 at 6:30 pm.
The inauguration of the statue will be preceded by a program on Swami Vivekananda from 5:30 pm onwards.
“Swami Vivekananda is one of the most beloved intellectuals and spiritual leaders that India has been fortunate enough to produce. He enthused the youth with his message of freedom, development, harmony and peace in India. It inspired citizens to take pride in Indian civilization, culture and working spirit, ”the JNU deputy foreign minister said in a statement.
