Bihar education dept to conduct exams for Class 9 from March 4 – education
Academic activities in government-run schools are likely to get back on track, as the state education department has prepared to regularize classes and exams for the current academic session to avoid delays in the next academic session.
Giriwar Dayal Singh, head of the secondary education department, held a review meeting on Wednesday with district education officials to assess the preparations made for the reopening of the schools from January 4.
An education department official said the exam for Class 9 students enrolled in the 2020-21 session will take place starting March 4 after three months of regular classes. There are about 13.17 lakhs of students enrolled in Class 9 across the state.
Dayal also released the new academic calendar for the 2021-22 session. According to the new schedule, “The first quarter exam for students in Class 9 will take place starting July 23 and the second quarter on September 21, followed by the final exam. Similarly, students in Class 11 will take the exam on May 10. A parent-teacher meeting will be held after 21 days of internal evaluation to discuss the academic performance of the students, ”said an official.
In early April, the education department had promoted students from classes 1 to 9 and 11 to the next grade without taking the annual exam due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
The universities will teach regular classes from January 4
The University of Patna is preparing to resume offline classes from January 4.
“Initially we would start classes for Grade III students with 50% strength. We will enforce safety protocols including sanitation, social distancing, and no extracurricular activities will take place. We wrote a letter to the district administration last week asking for permission to reopen, ”said NK Jha, dean of student wellness.
