Final exams for the West Bengal government’s secondary and upper secondary boards will be held in June 2021, State Education Minister Partha Chatterjee announced on Wednesday.
The exams are generally held in March, but the state is likely to face assembly elections in March or April next year.
All schools in Bengal have been closed since March and classes are held online. The curriculum for secondary and higher education has already been cut by more than 30% to reduce pressure on students. The qualifying exams for both tests have also been eliminated.
“The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education and the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education have informed us that they want to take their final exams in June next year. We have asked them to decide on the test times and announce them accordingly, ”Chatterjee said Wednesday afternoon.
The Central Boards of Secondary Education have already reduced their curriculum and postponed the 2021 exam.
