Ballia firing JP Nadda expresses displeasure Surendra Singh remarks BJP
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Chairman JP Nadda has expressed his displeasure at MLA Surendra Singh party’s remarks regarding the Ballia shooting incident, sources said. India TV. Speaking to Uttar Pradesh BJP chief Swatantra Dev Singh, Nadda asked him to tell Singh to stay away from the investigation in the case.
Jai Prakash Pal Gama (46) was reportedly shot dead by local BJP leader Dhirendra Pratap Singh on Thursday following a dispute over the allocation of ration shops in the village of Durjanpur in the Reoti area of Ballia.
The incident turned into a major political controversy after BJP MLA of the Bariya assembly headquarters, Surendra Singh, spoke in support of the main defendants. Singh visited the Reoti Police Station with relatives (women and children) of the accused, claiming that they had also suffered injuries in the incident and that an FIR should be registered. Later, he went to the district hospital with family members and was seen wiping tears.
“It is natural to get emotional when you see the pain of others,” the BJP MLA had said. He also questioned the role of the administration in the incident.
The Uttar Pradesh government had suspended the SDM, the circle officer and other police officers present at the scene.
According to the officials, Dhirendra Pratap Singh, who is the main defendant, was arrested by the Lucknow UP Special Task Force, while Santosh Yadav, Amarjeet Yadav, Ajay Singh and Dharmendra Singh were detained in Ballia. So far, the police have arrested 10 people in connection with the case, in which an FIR has been filed against some 30 people, most of whom have yet to be identified.
