The Army began a pre-recruitment training camp in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday with the aim of providing employment opportunities and preparing local youth to join the armed forces, a defense spokesman said.
The camp was held in the Salotri area of the Poonch district and was heavily subscribed to by youths seeking to join the military, the spokesman said.
He said the unit organized various tests, such as a two-kilometer race, a ground test and also theory classes to prepare the participants for the recruitment rallies.
The two-week pre-recruitment camp will go a long way toward preparing youth from remote areas to successfully join the Army after the necessary review during the conduct of upcoming recruitment rallies, the spokesman said.
He said that local youth and students from various schools praised the initiative taken by the Army in providing a unique opportunity for unemployed youth to join the armed forces and their overall improvement in education.
