Eighty-four schools in five blocks of the Pauri district in Garhwal Division have been closed for 5 days after 80 teachers tested positive for COVID-19, an official said Friday.
Teachers, who work in schools in the Khirsu, Pauri, Kot, Pabo and Kaljikhal blocks of the Pauri district, tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday. Schools in the state were reopened on November 2.
State Health Secretary Amit Negi told ANI that the district magistrates of the state’s 13 districts have been instructed to conduct the COVID-19 test for teachers assigned to schools, adding that the Department of Education also has issued a standard operating procedure (SoP). In this regard.
The Health Secretary further warned people against the increase in coronavirus cases, saying that it is likely to spread further during the winter season.
