Twenty-two faculty and researchers from the Guwahati Indian Institute of Technology were included in the two percent list of the world’s best scientists created by Stanford University in the USA.
The list prepared by Stanford University experts has the names of more than 100,000 scientists, whose published research manuscripts have accelerated progress in their respective fields and have also influenced the productivity of other researchers, according to a statement issued by IIT Guwahati. .
The director of the institute, TG Sitharam, and other members of the faculty were listed and ranked by the citations of their research publications for the year 2019 and their lifetime contribution to their specific fields of research.
The IIT Guwahati faculty members listed are from the Departments of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Biosciences and Bioengineering, Chemistry, Electrical and Electronics.
“This recognition by several professors from the institute in the world’s top two percent of the Scientific List has placed it on the world map of science and brought great pride to the Institute. I congratulate the 22 scientists and their hard work and commitment to promoting science, ”said Sitharam.
The database report on the field-specific analysis was prepared by Stanford University Professor John PA Loannidis and his team and published in the prestigious journal PLOS Biology, according to the release.
